Charminar, a four hundred years old Qutub Shahi monument epitomizes the beauty, the history, and the cultural heritage of the magnificent city of Hyderabad.
Like most people with a rich past, Hyderabadis too represent a whole spectrum of cultural traits, persuasions, and interests. The objective of this website is to provide a meeting place for all who love Hyderabad.
The eclectic culture which evolved in Hyderabad owes its characteristic tolerance to most of its liberal minded rulers. After its Qutub Shahi beginnings this culture truly bloomed under the Asaf Jahi rulers. The last of this line was Mir Osman Ali Khan who also became the first ‘Desh Pramukh’ of Hyderabad after its accession to the Indian Union in 1948.
The benign Asaf Jahi rule discouraged ethnic strife and provided a relatively safe environment under which all cultures flourished. Not only Hindu/Muslim unity but a toleration for all other cultures became a hallmark of what we fondly regard as Hyderabadi ‘tehzeeb’. This ‘tehzeeb’, based on mutual respect, absorbed the best elements of all cultures which prevailed in Hyderabad. Diversity with harmony became the motto. We are proud of the great liberal tradition which continues on under the proud banner of Indian democracy.
In the same spirit of tolerance and harmony we welcome everyone to this site.
